Senior pictures are really exciting. Sometimes seniors get so excited they forge ahead with every possible idea, outfit and pose they could find on Pinterest. But here is the thing, sometimes too much is simply too much. Here are some valuable tips and advice to help you have the best senior picture experience while also keeping things simple. 1. Plan Ahead: Start preparing for your senior pictures well in advance. This will alleviate a lot of stress and hassle. If you do your research ahead of time, then when you come to your photo shoot, you already know what is to come. You will feel comfortable with your photographer. You will know what your outfits will look like because you tried them on ahead of time. You will know what your overall style and look because you already looked at a lot of pictures ahead of time. If you do all that, it will be easier during the day of. You’ll be less stressed which means your pictures will turn out much better. 2. Time of Day: Discuss with your photographer the best time of day for lighting and the mood you want to create. Golden hour (the hour before sunset) often provides soft, warm lighting. Taking your pictures right in the middle of the day gives you a bright, light and airy feeling to your pictures. If you choose to go take your pictures inside, then time of day doesn’t matter as much but you will still want to be sure your photographer knows how to use the lighting inside. **Heads up… I know how to do that 😉** If you’re unsure of time of day and when is best, your photographer will have expertise in determining the optimal time so be sure you reach out to them! They’ll help you out. 3. Be Open to Creativity: Senior pictures are a big deal and you’ve waited a long time for this day. But most of the time your photographer will be able to capture amazing pictures you weren’t even expecting to have. Photographers have experience in capturing unique and stunning shots no matter the lighting, weather, location and outfits so trust their expertise and go with the flow.
