Picking your own outfit out can be a tough task, let alone coordinating outfits for your whole family. It’s hard to pick outfits that both flatter each member of your family and that also go together well visually. I hear ya! I am hopeful that these few outfit ideas you can either use for your own family pictures or give you ideas of what you could wear as well. You can also see this blog post on 3 general points to picking outfits for senior pictures here.
OUTFIT INSPIRATION NUMBER 1: SWEATERS
Who else lives for sweater weather?! I am a huge fan of sweaters for both men and women for fall pictures. Sweaters can vary and they offer a wide range of options for different styles. And not to mention they are so comfortable For example, someone could wear a color block cardigan (quick side note, layering creates beautiful movement in photos and is so beautiful) with a basic tee under it that pulls together all of the colors. One could wear a neutral sweater with jeans to off set the colors while the others wear sweaters to draw out colors from the cardigan. The nice thing about sweaters is there is so many fits. Say you like your clothes tighter, a plain body suit underneath a cardigan is probably more your style. Or maybe you like longer, looser sweaters, there are those too! And then dads, they have all the options for sweaters. To me, once you pick your color combination, sweaters are a wonderful option for what to wear!
OUTFIT INSPIRATION NUMBER 2: JUMPSUITS AND BUTTON UPS
Say sweaters aren’t your thing… no worries! This idea might be more up your families ally. Your family might be a more formal wear for pictures type and I am all for that! What would you think about if you mom or daughter wore a jumpsuit, such as this or this, with a neutral cardigan and booties while your husband/brother wore jeans and a button up that pulled from your colors?! Jumpsuits have the ability to be both casual and more formal so that might be a great option! Or if you want it to be a little more formal, the men could wear slacks to dress it up a bit. So many options! I love this idea because in 2021, jumpsuits have become the new dresses, so your both trendy and in your comfort zone.
OUTFIT INSPIRATION NUMBER 3: FLANNELS AND JACKETS
Did you catch my side note above? Hint, it had to do with layering. So, for this inspo, all outfits have to do with layers. Layering adds so much to images. Adds movement, new looks, places to occupy your hands. If you are someone who typically layers, for example flannels, jean jackets, vests, this idea is for you. One could wear tan pants with a white shirt and a flannel like this. Another could wear jeans, a long sleeve maroon shirt with a white vest. While another person wears a graphic tee with a jean jacket like this. Who else loves this idea?!
As always I am here to bounce ideas off of for your family shoot. Feel free to reach out for more ideas or to ensure the outfits will be great for pictures! I can’t wait to see what you decide to wear for your family pictures!
