Not sure where to take your senior pictures? Here are some ideas near you!
When planning out senior pictures, create a vision in your head of how you want them to turn out. It should include things like background, outfits, props, poses. The vision can include more than that but having that in your mind is super helpful for the photographer. It ensures that we capture what you are looking for while also adding a bit of surprise in there as well. If you are struggling with deciding where you want to take senior pictures… start by asking yourself if you want urban or rural? Then move to more specific questions like water or forest or flowers? Or maybe you want a little bit of all of that. Narrowing down what you want your backdrop to be is the first step to deciding where to take your senior pictures. Now, once you have decided what type of backdrop you are looking for, then you can start playing with specific locations. Don’t worry, Sarah Lindsay Photography won’t throw you out blind to start looking. We have some locations that we know of that might hit all the wants you are looking for. But, if there is another location that you have your heart set on, we are happy to check that place out too. If you are unsure of where to take senior pictures, below are the top 3 locations that we shoot at that are central to the Denver Metro Area and check so many clients “must haves” for backgrounds. Standley Lake
Standley Lake offers it all. Truly. This is why it is the top location that we shoot at. If you look up Standley Lake on google, it won’t do the location justice. You will only see the lake views, which are beautiful, but my guess is you probably are looking for more than just that. This open space offers fields, bridges, big trees, dirt paths, water, and the mountains. It has it all if you are unsure of exactly the background you are looking for. This location provides beautiful opportunities for a unique array of images. You could get playful pictures in the water, a beautiful wide image in a field, a closeup with your head resting on the bridge. The options are endless! See Senior Pictures at Standley Lake here.
Davidson Mesa
Lush and green in the summer, warm and golden in the fall. This location offers expansive fields with stunning mountain views. Davidson Mesa showcases the stunning Boulder flatirons as your backdrop. At this location we can play in the tall grass and get gorgeous closeups of you laying in the grass or you basking in the perfect golden hour sun. There are also some large boulders and a rock path that can add to specific poses and change that background the slightest bit. This location offers beautiful lighting for your shoot and is a great basic location for senior pictures! See Senior Pictures at Davidson Mesa here.
RiNo District
Now, for something completely different. This might be your spot. If you have ever looked through past year books, you might have noticed that most senior portraits are in a more natural environment. Dont, get me wrong, those backgrounds are amazing, but you might want to stray from that. And if you do and your vision has more of a downtown, urban vibe, this would be a fantastic location to shoot at! The RiNo District offers a lot of different types of backgrounds. There is metal, brick, colorful graffiti walls, wood. Each of these backgrounds can add so much to pictures while also drastically changing the tone of the image. You might want a more business look if you were in DECA in high school so a metal, plain background might be perfect for you. Or that bright dress you want to wear might stand out beautifully on a black and white graffiti wall. There are so many options here! I would say if you are really looking to showcase your style, this might be your location! See Senior Pictures at the RiNo District here.
