When you take your senior photos, I have something important to tell you. You deserve to feel beautiful, confident and relaxed during the day. I know you might think you don’t feel that way but I’m telling you… If you feel those things, your pictures will be more beautiful than you could have ever expected. Some of you might not know how to feel that way or some of you might be nervous to feel that way. No matter what though, I really want you to truly believe that you deserve to feel amazing on the day of your senior pictures. I want to help get you there!! First thing is first… You deserve to feel beautiful. You’re most beautiful. This day is an exciting day and is a culmination of all you have achieved the past four years and more. So you deserve to feel beautiful. But what things can happen that make you feel less than beautiful? Hair and makeup is a big piece to the puzzle that can make or break your senior pictures. Did you know that makeup appears lighter in pictures? For this reason, I would always suggest that you don’t do your own makeup. I would always be sure you find a trusted and vetted makeup artist. These people would be sure that you don’t look pale or like an orange lollipop in your pictures. They will make you look natural and beautiful. Another thing that might limit you from feeling beautiful is the support people you bring. This topic is always a little sensitive but remember, the people you bring is truly your choice and only your choice. Let’s just imagine this scenario. You have beautiful hair and makeup. You are excited for the day, then you put on the outfit you’ve been dying to wear. Then, out of the blue, a family member or friend says something snarky about the outfit. Or they make a face of disapproval. I don’t think you will be feeling you’re most beautiful in that situation. All that is to say, be sure you surround yourself with supportive, kind and trusted people during your photo shoot. Those people will be the people who make you smile and feel beautiful. Those people are the ones you want close. Think about who you want as your support people wisely. Confidence. We’ve all had moments in life where we feel it and other moments when we don’t. The day of your senior photo shoot is a day you really want to feel it. You might be a little nervous going into your senior pictures because you want those pictures to turn out perfectly. Here is the single thing that can make or break your confidence during your senior pictures. Your photographer. Your photographer should know how to bring out your natural smile. They should know how to pose you, what to say during the photo shoot, and they should know the best ways to make you laugh. Trust me, there are photographers out there who do not know how to do any of these things. Some photographers won’t know how to pose you and they may not know the words to help guide you through a session. I can tell you that Jessica and I combined have 20 years of experience posing clients and pumping them up to feel their absolute best. You know that feeling when the world just melts away. Everything is working the way it should and you are cool as a cucumber? That’s the feeling of being relaxed. When you take your senior pictures, the more relaxed you can be the better your pictures will turn out. So what are ways you can feel more relaxed? My suggestion is think of ways to help you feel relaxed before, during and after your pictures. There is so much going on and so much to plan and organize it’s best to have strategies to keep you calm. That’s where I come in. At Sarah Lindsay Photography, I take care of everything. I help you plan, choose outfits, stay calm and then I also take care of the artwork after. I do it all so you don’t have to worry about a thing. The more relaxed you can be the better your pictures will be. I want to help you and I want to give you an experience of a lifetime. Reach out, chat! Let’s get you on the calendar. Spots are filling up quickly so be sure you reach out today.
I cannot wait to show you this Iconic senior session with Alexis. You might be wondering right off the bat, what is the Iconic session? At Sarah Lindsay Photography this year, we started offering two different packages for senior pictures. The Iconic package has the complimentary hair and makeup, all the editing and skin touch ups, family photo session at another time, graduation announcements, viewing and ordering appointments and a phot shoot shot with out amazing second photographer, Jessica. Jessica is new to the team and she is amazing! She is a pro at posing and she is obsessed with capturing the authentic personality of all of her graduates. Alexis had the Iconic package and just you wait until you hear more about her day and see her photos! You’ll be amazed. Alexis had her photo shoot at Davidson Mesa. Isn’t this location gorgeous?? I was completely blown away by the scenery and can we just talk about the photos in golden hour light? I love that Alexis opted to have her pictures taken outside and she had a great mix of casual chic outfits and she also sported her letterman jacket. Alexis will be a senior at Pomona High School and let me tell you, this girl is a rockstar! She plays basketball and softball for her high school and is so talented at both. She told me she loved high school and her favorite part is getting to meet new people every year and being able to interact with them in classes. That is so telling of who Alexis is. She is such a sweet young lady who is happy to meet new people meet them and hear about who they are. I’m so happy Jessica got to capture that true essence of Alexis in her photos! I love Alexis’ outfits she chose for her photo shoot. They were all totally her! Cute, chic, comfortable but also amazing outfits that went perfectly with her scenery. I love that she even brought a softball for a couple pictures- how fun! I’m also a fan of what she chose to do with her hair and makeup. Her makeup was so beautiful and natural. Her hair was styled with beautiful beach waves which I will say will end up looking amazingly timeless for years to come. I love that Jessica got so many golden hour pictures. All of her pictures look magical. There is definitely something to say about taking pictures during golden hour. Don’t believe me… take a look at Alexis’ pictures. Alexis… Thank you for trusting Jessica at Sarah Lindsay Photography to take your pictures. It was truly an honor to get to know you and I am amazed at the person you are and will be. I can’t wait to see you playing softball in college and I know you will be an amazing labor and delivery nurse. Best of luck with your senior year and I’m so excited for all that is coming your way! Ready for your amazing senior pictures? Thinking the VIP package or Iconic? Let me know in the comments then be sure you click the button to get on my calendar as soon as possible!!
Before you take your senior pictures, I’m sure you’ll hear everyone tell you all the things you should do. You should be sure you have a manicure, be sure you have the right clothes and then be sure you have water with you during the day. But what about what not to do? Nobody tells you what not to do and trust me, those are just as important as what to do. So, keep on reading and learn about all what not to do for your senior pictures! Prior to senior pictures, you have to be sure you choose all of your outfits and accessories. Try them on and see how you feel in the outfits you chose. But here is tip number one… don’t over accessorize. If you over accessorize, not only is there risk of your accessories clashing with your outfits but it’s distracting. Earrings, necklace, bracelet, scarf, hat and a bunch of balloons can be great accessories. But put them all together in one photo and it just becomes too much. I’d be sure to stick with accessories that you normally wear in day to day life. I am personally not a hat girl, so I would probably stay away from hats during my senior pictures. You want to feel comfortable and relaxed. You won’t feel that way if you wear accessories that you aren’t used to wearing. I’d say to keep the accessories to three at max. Small earrings, a scarf and balloons is a great combo. It’s not distracting and adds character all at the same time. Think through your accessories. Remember, a little bit goes a long way! Have you ever seen pictures of girls in a beautiful outfit, stunning background, accessories perfect but her skin looks like she painted orange goo all over herself? I’ve seen those pictures and let me tell you, they’re not my favorite. My second tip on what not to do is to spray tan or go tanning at a tanning salon before your senior pictures. Spray tan more likely than not turns out orange. Your pictures don’t end up turning out natural and timeless the way you would want them to. The orange of the spray tan also clashes with make up and outfits you choose for the day. Just don’t do it. Tanning beds are something I would say don’t do either. Not only are they bad for you skin but they sometimes make your skin either red from burn or it gives you a tan that is too dark. Again, you won’t look classic and timeless the way you would want in your senior pictures. I’m definitely not shaming you if you love to tan. I love to go out in the sun and get some vitamin D! But, if you choose to do that before your senior pictures, make sure you use sunscreen if you choose to spend some time outside. Nobody wants a nasty sunburn before their picture day. If you want to use self spray tan, use it lightly. You can always use more but you can’t take it away. Start light then add if needed. And lastly, if you choose to go to a tanning salon, be sure you talk to the staff first about safety and be sure you take precautions so you don’t burn or damage your skin! The last and probably the most important tip I can give you about what not to do during senior pictures has nothing to do with the pictures themselves. It has everything to do with you! Don’t settle for anything less than what you value and what you want. If you have a specific prop you feel is important to you and you want it with you during your pictures, do it. If you are a competitive swimmer and want pictures in your swim uniform, let’s get those pictures. If we are taking pictures and you really don’t feel comfortable in a certain pose, please speak up! All of these examples are extremely important! Your pictures will turn out perfectly and you’ll be 100% happy with them if you are relaxed and confident during the day. If you don’t speak up for what you want or don’t want, you won’t love your pictures as much. This day is about you and for you. So be sure the day is how you want it ☺️ I can’t wait to be your photographer. I have some spots left open and want to help you get the senior pictures you’ve always been wanting. Reach out today and let’s get you on the schedule!!
