Highlighting your sports: Senior Picture Outfit Ideas

​For some of you, sports might be a big part of your identity right now and going forward. It might be how you feel seen and heard or it might be your escape from the hard experiences of high school or it might just be your favorite thing to do. Whatever it is, we want to make sure we capture the importance of your sport through your pictures. Here are a few ideas to make that happen!

Wear your jersey(s)

​Simple, but meaningful. If you aren’t ready to go all out in sports mode for some of your session, this might be the way to go. It captures your sports in a subtle way and will still spark memories when you look back. You could wear your entire uniform, your jersey with jeans, or even just hold the jersey.

Hold medals, trophies, gear

This idea might seem hard for you. I remember it did for me too. You might feel like you are bragging about everything you have accomplished over your high school sports career. But you aren’t. All of your accomplishments deserved to be shared and showcased and allow people to share their praise with you. For your session, you could wear a classic outfit of jeans and white t-shirt or leggings with an athletic shirt or your uniform. With this you could hang your medals over your arms or around your neck for some shots. You could also set the trophies in front of you while you sat on the track or on the field for a few more shots.​

If including your medals feels uncomfortable to you, we won’t force you! There are other ways we can capture sports through your outfit. In any causal outfit you could string your spikes around your neck, or hold your cleats in one hand, or hold the ball in front of you.

Wear your lettermens jacket

If you were worried about how holding your medals would look, this might be a more subtle way of showcasing some of your accomplishments. A lettermen’s jacket can showcase your time on varsity, specific sport awards, and academic accomplishments. It might feel more comfortable to generalize your accomplishments so this is a good alternative. Not only does it showcase your accomplishments, it shows your school pride as well. The lettermen’s jacket is a long standing tradition and if it suits you, then lets capture it! It might be a fun image to have to compare to your parents or even grandparents!

Bring future school's gear

If you have committed to play/run/swim/etc. at a college, first off… Congratulations! This is a huge accomplishment that surely you want to capture. My guess is when you committed you bought some gear to show off your accomplishment or to get a head start on repping your new school. For your portrait session at the very end you could throw on the hoodie or t-shirt with some jeans for a few shots. Having an image like this could be used in how you share your news on social media and/or could be used on your graduation announcement to share what’s coming next.
