Here in Colorado, we have been getting snow and lots of it. With the snow comes warm blankets, hot chocolate and cozy fires. But you know what else I think about when I see snow? Beautiful, fun and timeless senior pictures. Pictures with a cute pair of snow boots and a perfectly cozy scarf just makes these pictures even better. I love pictures in a winter wonderland and I’ll never turn down a snowy photo shoot. So let’s break down what makes a perfect snowy day photo shoot! From outfits to hair to location. I want to tell you what makes snow photo shoots absolutely perfect! WardrobeWhen it comes to snow photo shoots, outfits can definitely add to the pictures. Obviously you need to bundle up for the chilly temperatures but just because you’re layered up doesn’t mean your outfits can’t be adorable. I love the classic skinny jeans or black leggings for bottoms. There is a lot you can do with simple pants. A long sweater, or a cute vintage sweat shirt. You can layer on a textured sweater over the top or a puffy jacket. Accessorize the whole outfit with a pop of color in your scarf or warm up those ears with a cute hat. When it comes to your shoes, get a cute pair of long socks and then layer on a cute pair of boots. Put this whole thing together and you’re looking at the perfect snowy day photo shoot outfit. For senior pictures, be sure you pick items that speak to you, that make you feel like your true self and that make you happy to wear. HairThe way you decide to do your hair is important in all pictures, but in the snow it’s even more important. Here are a few things to think about when it comes to how to style your hair during snow phot shoots. First, I want you to think about what head accessories you are planning to wear. Are you planning to wear a hat? Maybe your hair should be down so you can better have your hat on. Do you want a cute pair of earmuffs? Your hair can be down but also, your hair could be in a low messy bun as well. Whatever your head accessory is, be sure your hair matches the accessory. Another thing I want you think about is the weather itself. If the day of your photoshoot there is snow in the forecast, your hair might be something you need to keep in mind. If your hair looses curls at the thought of moisture (🙋🏻♀️ it’s me!) then curls on a snowy day may not be what you want to go for. Maybe a straight look or a fun top messy bun is a better idea. If you have the perfect hair that holds whatever curl or hairdo then girl, you do what you want and the weather will do what it wants! The last thing I want you to think about is what truly makes you feel confident. Confidence in pictures is what makes the pictures turn out beautifully. If you are truly more confident with your hair in a pony tail, then do that! You will appreciate the pictures you have of you being your true self with your confidence shining through. LocationDuring the winter in Colorado, we are lucky enough to have snow anywhere you go. In the city, suburbs or mountains, you will always have snow. So when it comes to location, be sure you don’t pick one just because you feel you have to be there. You should pick a location that feels comfortable and important to you. Snow in the city is gorgeous. The lights coming off the snow is unique and stunning all at the same time. Snow in the mountains… well, you can’t beat that. The trees and blue skies will give you that rustic and timeless look that you’re searching for. No matter what you choose, be sure you’re prepared for the drive and be sure to have fun no matter where you’re at! So that’s it! What do you think? Are you convinced on snowy pictures as much as I am? I think you can have perfect senior pictures or family pictures no matter what the weather and I promise you’ll love them and cherish them forever.
