Are you passionate about a sport? Do you have a cool car? What about a pet? You’re in the school band? If it has helped shape you into who you are today, it has significance to you, it’s a passion of yours, or it’s your favorite accessory, we want to capture it in your portraits to get the full package of who you are!
What to Bring
The possibilities for what you can bring are truly endless. While, yes, you should be the main focus of your senior portraits, it can be really special to include props that help signify the person you are. Plus, nothing can outshine the beauty you have to offer, props can only enhance it!
Maybe you want to bring a basketball to represent the 10 years you’ve spent playing. Or maybe, you want to bring the furry friend that has kept you company throughout high school. If it’s something you are proud of, it’s welcome at your senior portrait shoot!
What NOT to Bring
Sarah’s only request for props is that they don’t negatively impact the environment. Items such as glitter, smoke bombs, and fireworks can be a fire hazard and also harmful for the environment if they aren’t cleaned up properly. As long as you aren’t planning on bringing any of these items, your options for props are limitless!
Props could be something as small as bringing your letterman jacket to throw over your shoulder in photos, or it could be as big as the dream car you got when you turned 16. If it helps show who you are, bring it!
Inspiration
If you need more inspiration for items that you can bring, here are a few that may resonate with you. However, if you don’t see the item that you had in mind listed, don’t freak out! It’s most likely going to be more than welcome at your portraits.
You could bring something that resembles the sport you played throughout your life: it could be the uniform, cleats, ballet shoes, trophies or medals, or even a sports ball.
If you favor arts over sports, maybe you can bring your instrument or the music sheets to your favorite performance. You could also consider bringing your favorite book if you are a big reader!
Another idea is to bring an accessory that helps define who you are. If you have a killer shoe collection, think about bringing a few of your favorite pairs to show off. You could also take the accessories a different direction and wear a cowboy hat to resemble your southern roots!
To Wrap Up
The moral of the story is, if it’s something that is significant to you, it should be at your shoot. We want to create personalized portraits that capture the most genuine version of you, so if you want to include a few props to make that happen, we are here for it!
